Out of Range

Nathan

Bought a new Radeon 9600 (non-pro, non-se) and have done
the following:

Uninstalled old nvidia drivers
Updated BIOS
Updated 4-in-1 Via drivers
Installed latest ATI driver (4.5)

Everything goes great until Windows cylon splash screen
when monitor goes black and I get an "out of range"
message on my monitor (to be clear: this is a monitor
message, not a Windows error). I can hear the boo-bee-boo
song after a while, so Windows appears to boot correctly
in spite of the black monitor. I can also shut it down
(windows button/up/return/right/return) and I hear the
shut down music and the computer shuts down.

Here are my specs:

Windows XP Home
ASUS A7V-266E
Athlon XP 1800+
Radeon 9600 128 MB
512 MB Crucial PC2100 DDR RAM

Lowering the refresh rate on the monitor settings often is the solution
here.

Can you get in to safe mode/last know working configuration/vga made?

Got it. Entered VGA mode and had to change the refresh
rate within the ATI console (regular display settings
didn't work). Thanks all for the help.
