out of memory

I receive an 'out of memory' and a 'close some applications' message. The
onhly problem: there are no applications running. What ois goping on here
and how can I fix the problem?

OS: Windows XP Home

RAM: 512

The next time it happens do a CTRL-ALT-DEL, this will open Task manager and
you can then see what's going on in the background.

‘Spelt’ is actually the British past tense of ‘to spell’ while ’spelled’ is
the American past tense.
