Out of disk space.

I have my operating system on an 8G partition on my hard drive. Lately, I
have been getting a low disk space warning. Checking properties under "My
computer" says I have only 6MB of space left.

I have done disk clean-up and have deleted and moved about everything I can
but it still shows that same 6 MB of space left.

I booted into "Safe Mode" and checking properties there, it says that I have
1GB of space left, or 13% of my hard drive free.

Does this sound like some kind of Malware or Spyware problem?

I have checked the drive with AVG Virus checker, SpyBot, Ad-A-Ware and
Windows Defender and nothing comes up.

It sounds like you made the partition way too small. Windows updates
and other programs that insist on writing to that partition are going to
continue eating away at that remaining space.

Is there a Norton protected recycle bin? You should not let a partition get
down to less than 20% free space. Any automatic backup software like Norton
GoBack? Also decrease the amount of space allocated to system restore. By
default it takes 12% of the drive. For 8G that's almost 1GB. System
restore is only good going back one or at most two weeks, so cut down on the
space allocated to it. If there is more than one drive, move the main part
of the page file to the first partition on the second drive. Create one
just for the page file. Leave a small page file on the C drive, minimum
5MB, max 50.

Other options are repartition non destructively to increase the size of the
C partition to 25 GB. BootIt NG from Terabyte Unlimited will do this. They
have a 30 day full featured free trial offer. Lastly, get a bigger drive.
Drive space is very low cost these days.
