OT - Windows 7

Quick question - hope someone can help.

Why does Win 7 want to fall back to a "basic" colour scheme?

When I start to watch an AVI file in Win Media player it almost
immediately pops a message to say that perfromance is slow.... running
low on mem for Aero...suggest I go to basic display

Why would it do that? I have Win 7, a damn good sys - with 6Gb of mem.

I did read that it caused some incompatability with progs - but I
using an AVI in MS media player... so surely that should be
compatible?

I have breakdown of how file was encoded if people interested - but
lets keep simple for now... Why would MS media player make Win7 do
that?

Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

The solution is not a problem - I could just chose to ignore the
prompt - I am more interested in understanding why

The card is not bad.... an ATI chipset 4870 with 1GB of on board mem.

If it were to work with anything - you would exepct MS to make sure it
works with their own player - so.... any more ideas?

RC=Beta. RC is still a Beta. RC is Release Candidate. It is nothing more and nothing
less. Still changes will be made before it comes out of RC and then when it does it
will be Gold

And I forgot. When it goes out of Beta(RC) the version that you now have (RC) will
need to be uninstalled to install the final released (Gold) version. This Beta (RC)
version is expiring at the date that was given when you downloaded it. I just
thought you might want to be aware of this little fact

" I just thought you might want to be aware of this little fact"

LOL - I know- why on earth do you think I might need to be reminded?
Beta is different from RC - and RC is differnet from RTM... I
know...which is more than you seem to.... but...

But what I dont know.... is why the RC is behaving as it is with
regard to moving to "Basic" display mode.

Now instead of a smartarse "beta is beta" comment - may be you can
elboarate and explain that this is a known issue with the RC
version..or soemthing that actually moves the point forward...

Otherwise - please just go back to sleep.

Thanks and Cheers

You didn't post this in the Windows 7 beta news groups because you think it
is not a beta?

Or don't you have access to the official Windows 7 beta news groups?

Again beta!

Because CLUELESS people post such nonsense on a regular basis. As
suggested, go to the WIN7 forum, where you should be asking the question
in the first place TO GET YOUR ANSWER, NOT in the, lets see, VISTA news
group! Good-lord-a-mighty, what is so mind boggling about that people?
Why do you think there are different places for different OS's? Pretty
easy to figure out, well, unless you ARE clueless..

G'day
