OT win7 driver question

I installed Win7 (looks great) but can't access the internet as my Asus
motherboard needs an Nforce2 driver for the onboard network card. Asus
doesn't have even a Vista driver and the XP one doesn't install. I am of
the opinion that if I had a Vista driver that it would work. and if so, how
would I get one for the asus a7n8x-x motherboard. I would expect that you
XP guru's have run into this.

This would be more of a Asus/NVidia genius... Not a Windows XP one. ;-)

Windows 7 is essentially Windows Vista in most ways.

Google is your best bet here - not this particular newsgroup - IMHO.

I'd say - after a cursory glance - you'd be better off installing a
supported OS and using virtual machines (VirtualBox, VMWare Server/VMWare
Player, etc) to test or whatever you are doing with Windows 7 at this point
in its development.

The solution is to purchase a PCI based network card.
I don't know how old your motherboard is but whatever
card you buy must be compatible with your motherboard's
PCI specifications. And obviously Windows 7 must support
the make/mode of Network card you purchase.

Had the same problem with my NF7 chipset board. Another option is a
wireless USB adapter I had laying around. Not as good as the onboard
network adapter, but it works. There were several updates from MS for
the Windows 7 install, some related to the Nvidia chipset, but not the
Network adapter, unfortunately.

BTW, the link mentioned above is down for maintenance; my luck, of course.

Yep, this is what I will do in the end. I'll try the other suggestions
first. I am not a google expert so some of my searches are pretty lame. I
just wanted to test win7 out on an excellent MB that is only a little older
than my other machines. Figured I could help MS out with a lot of users
that aren't going to update their hardware yet. Without a network card, it
runs a little slow doing some simple stuff (games etc) but I will get more
memory which should help. I have a 1800+ AMD and only 1 gig memory at the
moment. At least it installed (yay microsoft). This was a superb Linux
machine and when I put win7 (after it comes out) on a new machine, this will
go back to linux.
