OT: Why I never have problems?

I regurlarly read this group (and Vista and Win7 groups) I have 2 desktops
computers, a P4 3.0 gh Asus P4C800, 2 gb RAM dual-channel, 4 HD (2sata-
2pata) I use it for internet, there is ZoneAlarm Security Suite up to date,
Malwarebytes and a paid version of SuperAntiSpyware installed.

Limewire is there (rarely used and sharing icon shutdown), I sometimes
visit porn sites (like millions of peoples do) and do most of my internet
browsing, researches, newsgroups and emails on that machine. I never have
slowdowns, it takes between 3 to 4 minutes to boot but I think it's OK, it
used to take over 5 minutes when I used AVG Internet Security Suite (and
there was some curious behavior). I never catch viruses (a few trojans were
deleted by ZA, MB or SA). Microsoft Updates never caused any problems. I
find the performance of this machine satisfactory.

My second desktop is a Core2Quad 2.83 gh Asus P5Q, 8 gb, 6 HD (4 Sata and 2
Pata). I use it as digital audio workstation, I dual-boot XP pro 32 bits
and Win7 Home Premium 64 bits. My internet access is limited to programs
updates and youtube (better video and audio than my P4).

The XP part is protected by ZA Security and the Win7 part by MSE and
Windows firewall, XP takes about 1 minute and half to boot and Win7 about
45 seconds (no ZA and 8 gb Ram).

No problem on that machine, can record 10 audio tracks simultaneously
(limited by my audio interface-souncard), I don't know my playback limit,
I've never hit it, fast machine (especially under Win7).

I also have 2 laptops (1 Core2Duo 4 gb RAM and 1 EeePC 2 gb Ram) both
running Win7 32 bits. Internet use is limited to programs updates.

I backup everything on external HD at least once a month.

Reading all the problems people have after Windows updates or after
catching a virus or for other obscur reasons, I wonder why I don't have
those troubles, with 4 machines, my risks are "Quad", particularly on the
P4.

Just thinking out loud...

You, like myself, have reasonable hardware of good quality, don't screw
with all sorts of crap, and you're reasonable about what you load on
your computers.

I have more than a dozen computers in my home office, not counting the
family computers, a dozen servers, and I don't have any problems with
them either, for years on end...

It's about not screwing up things by doing dumb things.
