OT: Willing to entertain some questions about Visual Studio C# Express?

F

Fred Boer

Hello:

Apologies for the off-topic post, but I was wondering if one of the regulars
here who may be familiar with Visual Studio C# might be willing to
correspond with me and answer a few beginner-type questions? I'm facing the
possibility of needing to learn/use C# for a project of mine... but I'd like
some answers before I dip my toe in the pool.

Thanks... now back to your regularly scheduled Microsoft Access newsgroup..

Cheers!

Joining the dark side, Luke?

I've dabbled a bit with C#, Fred, though not with the Express Edition. I
can't promise that I'll be able to answer, but I'd be happy to try. You can

Sigh... Dad insists I join the family business... ;)

Microsoft's Ric Lewis (in Clint Covington's blog) has posted a neat demo
which downloads book information into an Access 2007 database, using Amazon
Web Services. I've already managed to use Z39.50 to download cataloguing
information from Library Servers (like Library of Congress), but I'd *love*
to be able to do what Ric does in this demo, and get those neat pictures of
book covers, and current prices, etc.! However, to do this it looks like I'd
have to use a "Managed Add-In"(?) and do some coding in C#...
and,...apparently.. sell my soul... <g>

Cheers!
