OT: SubRip and subtitles

Sorry if wrong group, but if someone can help....


I'm using SUBrip to shrink and convert the original subtittle file,
extracted off the DVD. Now, there is a shitload of subtitle output
formats to choose from, and I'm a bit confused.

Which one should I use? Graphical or text? Which one is most compatible
with majority of DIVx players (both software and hardware).
 
Subrip format (srt) which is SUBrip's default output is probably the best.
