I used to think Google was the bees knees, but recently I've been
getting teed off with vast numbers of hits that just refer to other
search sites. A right pain when you're trying to track down a
specialist freeware app!

one Banana seems to just be a comprehensive Meta-Search engine...but a
good one! I note that it says "Every Picture search displays random
pictures! "...which can be a wonderful feature to keep in mind, as what
I want is often on page 24...

Start from the beginning ? - just replace the numbers to 001 in the url...

1banana is a nice search engine. Take a look at the Power Search facility
which enables you to assign several sites to each day of the week and open
them all together or singly.
