I don't know to which newsgroup this question belongs.

could non-rechargeable batteries be recycled?

I have only seen recycling collection boxes
for rechargeable batteries in HK. :)

Where I come from, which is about 8 timezones east of HK, /all/ batteries
are considered a 'hazmat' - hazardous material - which are not to be

I believe 90% of the people in my city just throw
used non-rechargeable batteries into regular
trash cans. There was and is never a policy
for them.
