Sorry about posting here but I don't know a TFT monitor newsgroup to ask.

I bought a 17" Philips TFT monitor and it looks great except for some fonts.
The background looks great, most fonts on web pages look great. Times New
Roman's "ys" and "wws" aren't as bold as the other letters and Courier looks
very faded and like it's missing pixels, for example.

Any suggestions?

I have the correct up to date video drivers and monitor drivers installed,
running XP Pro SP2.

Try the Windows XP Power Toys
ClearType Tuner (New)
This PowerToy lets you use ClearType technology to make it
easier to read text on your screen, and installs in the
Control Panel for easy access

Some fonts may be better than others. Some monitors may be
better than others. You may just have to select and use
other default fonts.

Just be sure to set the graphics so the refresh rate is
correct (60-80 Hz) and the resolution is set at the native
resolution, check the monitor description.

| I downloaded and ran it but it didn't improve it much, if
at all.

I noticed an improvement upon rebooting on most fonts.

I have it set at the resolution Philips recommends, 60 Hz and 1280 x 1024.

Thanks for the help; I never thought I would have to do this with a TFT but
you live and learn.

I wish I could afford to replace my old, cheap CRT.
