TFT monitor settings

I've just bought a lovely new Samsung monitor, its great, but I can't get my
Wallpaper to look good.

Every picture I try to use as background on the desktop comes out blurred, I
didn't have this problem with my old glass screen, 19", which I think is the
same size as my TFT 17".

Any clues on how to fix this?

Thanks

Tony

Are you using the required native resolution for that TFT? (There is only
one resolution that works correctly for a given TFT.)

Are you running at same resolution, and that resolution is that native to
the TFT?

What I"m getting at, is if your previous monitor used a different
resolution and now Windows is resampling the wallpaper to a different
size, that is certainly going to degrade the wallpaper image in a way that
looks blurry to a critical eye, though of course you can disable
stretching the wallpaper but it then isn't the right size.

As others have suggested make sure you run it in its native resolution and
optimum refresh rate. For most 17" LCD monitors this is 1280 x 1024 pixels
and 60Hz. Then use the "Auto adjust" function of the monitor to get the
sharpest possible image.
