Yes or No !

There are always some "out there" whose Windows platforms are hovering on
the brink of major software collapse - WHATever is next installed, and of
course that could, (unfortunately for Norton and any other application
software product) - be a Norton product.

regards, Richard

NO! All Symantec products I have had any experience with lately are
resource hogs that make so many changes to a system, they could easily
barch the install of Windows!

My experience with Symantec AV products and SMS by Symantec have been
just the opposite.

I dumped Norton Internet Security for the same reason and now use
PC-cillin Internet Security. Day and night!

If you had a NAT Router and quality AV software you would not need an
"Internet Security" type application.

Lets keep the product list simple, and not compare shit and shoeshine
'norton' badged products are garbage
'symantec' badged corporate products are entirely different, they work, and
have half the intrusion of Norton Crapware

I've used Norton for years and have no problems other than the extended
bootup time for it to load all of the Norton resources I use. (Anti-virus;
Internet Security; Anti-Spam)

Perhaps the Tooth Fairy is alive and living across Lake Washington, also?

Nope -- I live on the East side of Lake Washington - no
tooth fairy here. How about the marriage made in ______
-- Symantec and AOL ?? What a perfect match - you
could install it on your pet rock -- it would run just as
fast as a 10 ghz pentium with that stuff on it !!

....sometimes PCR's responses are far too cryptic for a simple mind like mine
:-)

I guess that you really mean, 2as opposed to McaFee software that has
trashed many more Pc's than Symantec ever did !
....and I mean that in a "warm kind, lving way!"

I tried PC-cillin a while ago, it used to be distributed with PC-Chips
motherboards - on CD. The motheboards were, and still are OK, (shame the
"PC-Chips Lottery" web site is no longer maintained), but, the PC-Cillin
software was always a sure-fire way to upset a Windows platform !

That was my experience so I think all Symantec software is crap now. YMMV.

....trouble is with NAT router's is that they BOLDLY advertise most of your
ports as "blocked" instead of "stealthed" and hence "invisible", on the web,
....BRILLIANT way to advertise one's presence on the web and invite more
attention, if you ask me !!
....trundle along to http://www.grc.com with your little NAT router, and
click on the "Shields-Up" hyperlink to see just how good your "NAT"
firewalled router is !! :-)

regards, Richard

When Norton products are installed into hardware and software environments
that aren't too messy, boot-up times aren't that much longer than systems
without Norton software installed :-)
