OT: Pocket Controller v5.04 and WM5.0/AS4.0 (to demo my .NET CF app)

Hi all,

I have just received my Dell Axim X51v. After a day and a half, I finally
got the ActiveSync 4.0 to work properly as it was not synchronizing
initially after it was installed. I eventually had to uninstall Outlook 2002
and ActiveSync 4.0 and then reinstall them again to get it all to work,
including reloading all my data and setting up Outlook 2002 again. This was
very frustrating.

I now need to give a presentation over this weekend, demonstrating my .NET
CF app, and have done this before using Pocket Controller Professional
v5.04. I have just discovered (on my setup) that this program does not work
under on my new Dell Axim X51v - it does not seem to install properly on the
Pocket PC and the Pocket Controller just disappears on the PPC after it soft
resets. I have reported it to their tech. support but I have not had a reply
yet.

I was wondering whether anyone on this list has a Windows Mobile 5.0 device
and whether you have used Pocket Controller for presentations?
Alternatively, what other presentation software actually works with the
WM5.0 and AS4.0 combination?

Michel,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have a Dell Axim X51v with Windows Mobile 5.0 and ActiveSync 4.0.

I have now got Pocket Controller working. I finally spoke with their tech.
support guy and after about an hour trying things out, it turned out to be
my firewall. The firewall that I have been using for quite a while now is
the Sygate Personal Firewall Pro. It seems that it presently has some
operational issues with ActiveSync 4.0 and Pocket Controller. I uninstalled
the Sygate Personal Firewall and re-activated Microsoft's firewall and
everything is now working for the Pocket Controller.

Microsoft has a paper on ActiveSync 4.0 issues and I followed all of the
setting changes for the Sygate Personal Firewall Pro to get synchronization
working for Calendar, Contacts etc., and this worked fine. However,
compatibility issues arose with Pocket Controller, hence the reason for this
post.

Regards,
Neville Lang
