I opperate a site with something for all age groups but geared to those 50
Plus.

I have plans to eventualy have FREEWARE on this site for down load But due
to a series of unfortunante events that has to be placed on the far back
burner.

So Insted of Dumping the feature alltogether I would like to install links
to freeware sites that are willing for me to do this (Not Links To Content
Links to their home page or the page of their choice).

If you or someone you know is interested please let me know.

This is the site I am Talking about:
http://www.50plusstuff.com

For Email to me Change .net to .com

TIA

FWIW I don't recall ever hearing of an author who objected to a link to his home page. Some of them
ask you not to link directly to their downloads.

If you want to get your Freeware section up and running *fast* link to

Henk de Jong's great list of sites - "Links to Freeware":

alt.comp.freeware's free CD:

and/or our home page:

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/

re geared toward the over 50 crowd. Tony Smith's site lists disability software:

The problem, Bob, is that most people have to pay for the web space and
bandwidth for people to host their files, even if the files themselves are
free. Some of the webspace is provided by specialists like download.com.com
who fund it by also holding shareware, and charging for advertising, and so
on. Some is hosted by software companies so that they can get the
opportunity to tell you about other, non-free software that they provide -
Moon software is a good example. Still others is hosted by the author of the
software to demonstrate their programming abilities. And finally, there are
groups that host freeware out of the goodness and generosity of their
hearts, or through a sense of social responsibility (if you get some benefit
from free software, it's only fair that you make the same software - or
something of value - available for others).
When broken down by source, you can see why direct links to software
hosted by others is normally not the right thing to do - but links to
freeware sites homepages maintained by good and active webmasters are always
welcome.
And of course, ultimately you are the final arbiter. You can point to
review pages for individual programs that you are reccommending (though
these might go out of date with great frequency); you can point to the web
pages devoted to the provider of given software, or to pages like
pricelesswarehome.org, and everyone's happy. Furthermore, the more people
that link to a site, the higher that site rises in the listings of most
search engines, benefitting a whole other group of people beyond those your
website specifically targets.
What that would mean is that you were nominating this site as somewhere
that you trust. And, if you don't like a site for whatever reason - you
don't have to put up a link to it.
