You might want to check out PlanetPdf:
http://www.planetpdf.com/

The site features free documents books in PDF formats. I know I'm being
slightly OT for mentioning it (acf is about software, not about books) -
but the site has sufficient merit to be worth a look by people looking
for freeware-type freaks.

I just downloaded "Art of Assembly" by Randy Hyde, but you can other
developer books, and titles like Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.
They are genuine books, no crud.

Something I haven't understood about ebooks:
Isn't it much easier to read a print book than risk carpal
tunnel syndrome while laboriously reading a long book on your
computer screen?

Yes, but they're free :)

Actually, with reference material, I think that html is the way to go.

Actually, using a program like yBook or eTextReader makes it quite
enjoyable to read on your screen, especially a laptop. If you haven't taken
a look at one of these programs it might be worthwhile. ybook handles more
formats than etextreader but it'll be a matter of preference. I believe I
found both thru this group.
