You can run it. It doesn't have an address bar, so you have to go one place
at a time, but it works, for testing.

The test does not run on anything earlier that Velveesta SP2, my loss, I guess.

I would have run the preview as it is now, MS seems to have lost perspective
that there are proportionally many more XP users than there ever were Vista users !

When IE 9 shows on the download center, I will give it a look.

If anyone comes across a link in their travels, it would be appreciated here.

that is because Microsoft is pushing those on XP to upgrade to Windows 7
because xp will not be supported past 2014
As they say "Get with the times"

MS won't be pushing me to upgrade to Win 7 anytime soon, I can wait until support
runs out whenever that may be.

As you know, XP users can't migrate straight to Win 7, I would have to upgrade to
Velveesta then to Win 7, no time for that, and I would not want to spend endless days
on the phone with Dell to do this.

As with all new MS OS, there are issues that certain users don't want to encounter or use.
Win 7 doesn't support OE or OL, just WLM which, imo, sucks.
I test drove it a while ago and it looks and feels to web-based, the UI "looks" the same
but it isn't -

The NNTP groups are going fast, btw - if you view MS News via NNTP, you fave NG
may no longer be available.

I do not believe in upgrading- it is too much work and too costly, with the
prices of computers these days it is cheaper and less headaches to just
purchase a new computer with windows 7 on it

that is not true, you can upgrade from XP to windows 7- it is just a
headache and not worth the time to do it.

I disagree with you here. windows live mail is a good program, in fact I
like it much better than OE, I use it all the times and I have no problems
with it, and I now have all my xp and windows 7 users on it. Actually it
looks like OE with just a few extras in in like a junk mail filter, etc and
I have clients that are in their 80's who love it over OE that would always
crash on them. I have had so many clients who keep complaining that OE
constantly crashes or locks up, most have switched to Outlook or windows
live mail.

I guess such is life

I've kept my Win 7 in the box for now, but how is the overall process
of upgrading one's computer (however done) much different than
reinstalling XP, either to clean up after a big problem, for general
purposes, or when installing a new system hard drive? Given the length
of time XP has been around, the latter seems especially common.
