Hi,
I urgently need to get data from one old computer to another .
I have an old laptop With Win ME and my new computer with Windows XP pro.
I used to connect both computers thru direct cable, (LPT1), but now it does
not work, (but i have tried the cable from the WinXP machine to another win
98 machine and it works).
There was some lighning and i suspect that this is why it does not work any
longer.
My modem is also out of action, (it appears to be anyways). I and i do not
have a network card on the laptop, (but i have one on the PC).
According to the laptop there is nothing wrong with either the modem or the
LPT1 connection, I have also run some test using DEBUG -D00:40 and that does
not show anything wrong either.
But i still have my USB ports and i guess my COM1 port is working, I also
have 2 PCMCIA slots.
I have a spare USB ADSL modem so i guess i could try and upload the files to
the web and download them again but i wish there was a better way.
Can i use the USB Modem to connect both machines?
So is there any way of connecting both computers via USB?
Is there anyother way of connecting the two PC's?
By the way it is an Acer TravelMate series 200 wih windows ME.
Many thanks for any help you might offer.
