I'm not sure which serial number you're referring to, but here are some
good system inventory programs which are free:

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html - Belarc Advisor
http://www.aumha.org/free.htm - Aida32 (hosted on Jim Eshelman's site)

The last Everest Home from Lavalyst was good, too but Lavalyst isn't
making the free version any more.

Hello Malke,
I'm not sure which serial number you're referring to, but here are

the serial of the single hardware item installed. Doesn't the serial included
in some way in the firmware or some other part that is possible to read via
software?

If it is available to the operating system, then one of the system
inventory programs I suggested will find it.

Thanks.

AIDA is fantastic. It doesn't need to be installed. Just what I'm looking
for.
Unfortunately it doesn't get the number I'm looking for.
I'll try the other one.

Since you will have to manually enter most serial numbers anyway, you might
consider creating a hardware list with a spread sheet.

Of course, you can click on START / ALL PROGRAMS / ACCESSORIES / SYSTEM
TOOLS / SYSTEM INFORMATION. This will give you extensive info for your
hardware and software, but serial numbers for every device will not be
shown.

Also, you can get a list of all of your major hardware by clicking on START
/ CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM / HARDWARE / DEVICE MANAGER. However, again, all
serial numbers will not be listed.
