Get a load of this email I got from the company when I asked them about
where to get a copy of their demo software:

You can't be serious? You want me to ring an international number to get
a download address for the Network Inventory program? Tell me it's a
joke!>

What's a joke is that you did not fill out the form correctly and like a
little child put in a lot of junk on the form. Our website is not for little
children. Don't waste our time.

I told them I wasn't going to put legit details on their form because i was
not prepared to have my details on a web page ready for spammers to get a
hold of.

Please don't cross-post to more than 3 groups (=spam), certainly when
it's not relevant to these groups.

I do not bother to deal with (sites) or companies that require lengthy
personal information just to test a demo. Some website operators seem to not
not understand that the NET is porous and people are worried about their
personal information being hijacked. They probably never of heard of
"personal info" sniffing "robots", worms or trojans. If an organization
makes trouble from the start, it is tip-off that you'd definitely have
problems down the road if you buy their product... what kind of after sales
support you would get. By the way, there are tons of Network Inventory
Programs out there, I sure would look for another one.

Julian,

I am sucessfully using the following network audit application.

iInventory

go to iinventory.com and there is a fully functioning demo that supports 10
users.

An even if there weren't any sniffers out there, you can't know how the
company will use your info, remember to them you are not a customer
until you buy, so some companies, once they have your personal info,
will spam you themselves.

It is sad...that so much paranoia MUST exist on the Web.
Companies must take this into consideration to make the demo'ing
experience as "trustworthy" as possible.
