[OT] Been away for a few weeks

I have REALLY missed this forum.

I rode my bicycle (yeah, non-motorized) two blocks away to the gas station
to buy a pack of cigarettes. It was very late at night, and raining. On
the way back, as I was riding past their Diesel pumps, I either hit
something I couldn't see, or slipped on some wet leaves or possibly even a
fuel spill.

When I went down, I broke both Tibia and Fibula on my lower left leg. Then
a week in the hospital. My only comfort was that I had my MS-Press COM
Programming book.

So, after several weeks of pain killers and bed-rest, I now have a titanium
rod where my Tibia's bone marrow used to be, and now that I can use crutches
to get to my computer, -- it's been so long, a mouse feels strange in my
hand.

So I get to wear this cast for 5 months, and then after that, spend 5 more
months in physical therapy learning how to walk again.

Could there ever be a better argument to quit smoking!?

Aside from all the HR paperwork and corporate red-tape, I'm almost terrified
to find out what they did to my system in my absence.

So everyone get all your newbies to post here so I can feel better by
answering easy ones. :)

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, Mike. Welcome back.

And yes, you should stop smoking - it's bad for your health, you know! :)

Yeah, yeah, I know... But hey, it's the only thing that keeps me alive
after a 30-hour debugging session :)

I wondered where you'd gone! I'm sorry to hear about your accident, and
I hope you astound everyone with the speed of your recovery. The PT
will be, well, a pain (I know from personal experience), but you have to
apply yourself to it.

Are you kidding? You're going to dominate the newsgroups, being stuck
at home and having nothing better to do with your time. We can all go
on vacation now.

Nay. Buy a whole cartoon when you go shopping and therefore, you don't have
to make separate trips to buy cigs.

Seriously, I am thinking of giving up smoking too but it is hard after doing
it for 30 years or so.

Hope you recover very quickly ...
