My temporary Internet files cache is set to the default (50mb) and Vista's
Disk Cleanup confirms this. But, when I navigate to the actual folder
(AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files) there's over 5gb
worth of stuff in there. Disk Cleanup doesn't get rid of it. Clearing the
entire cache from IE itself (including cookies, passwords, etc) only cuts it
in half. What gives?
I discovered this while trying to figure out a creeping mysterious loss of
disk space... the other culprit being the WinSxs folder where install files
are cached (which is also ludicruously huge... and I would love to move to
my file server backup-- anyone know about this one too?).
