Orphaned Domains?

I goofed something up a while back when trying to create a child
domain, and the domain dropdown list at the client logon screen still
shows the domains that no longer exist. I've been through ntdsutil and
ADSI edit, and they're not in the list anymore, yet they still show up.

Any thoughts on this?

They may never go away! I had a domain about 4 months ago, it is gone, a
new one is in place, but when you look at the "whole network" it is still
there. It shows up here and there in popups and stuff too. WE have 100
computers so my theory is that one of them is still setup for the old domain
and broadcasting it, or in a workgroup with the same name. Maybe I am
wrong...

first make sure its metadata is gone:

second make sure it is not listed anymore in domains and trusts
