Original Source File Lost, Now What?

Issues:

1. I have two Movie Maker movies as projects that when I try to save movie
as DV AVI it says “some files for movie not found†and then it says I need
to “locate the original source file and move or copy to the location where it
was first imported into WMM.â€

I have no idea anymore where or how to locate the original
source file or what even was the original file(s). Are there any other
options to get around this? I am able to watch the movies on my computer
using Movie Maker, Nero or other programs…so there has to be something there.

2. Two movies I was able to save as DV-AVI. What is the next step in saving
them to a DVD? I do have third party software to burn to DVD (pinnacle and
sonic).

And now my complaints about Movie Maker…

WMM is not a very intuitive program and not having built into it an option
to burn directly to DVD is a big negative and out of date. The first video
editing program I used was Intervideo and I had none of the serious problems
I have encountered with WMM. However, because I already had WMM installed
and I liked some of the creative transitions and effects I tried it…only to
spend A LOT of time stuck and regretting it.

Please respond ASAP, as these movies are STUCK in my computer and I want to
get them out on DVD so that I can show the movies to others. I have been
working a month trying to get them off of my computer onto DVD only to run
into one issue after another.

On the missing files, view the project as a Storyboard and see if there are
any clips with big red X's.... right click them and look at the properties,
which includes the path and file name it's looking for.

The next step toward your DVDs is to use your third party software with the
DV-AVI files you rendered.

If there are no red X's and the movie plays fine in WMM preview, then the
WMM project may be corrupted.
First make sure you have no transitions that are the full length of any
clip. Then select the first clip, hold the shift key and select the last
clip (this should select all the clips, do not use <Ctrl> A method of
selecting all the clips), hold the <Ctrl> key and press the C key (copy),
and close WMM. Now re-open WMM and past (<Ctrl> V) to the time line.

Also make sure that when the time comes to burn your DVD that you use the
correct software. If using Sonic software you will need to use MyDVD to
create a project to burn. Simply burning the Avi file in Record Now will just
give you a data file which will not play on a DVD player.

Thanks for the information, however I read the other posts that suggested
that (find x's on storyboard) and I have no red x's. I also went to your
website and assume that I must be one of those other cases that is not so
apparent. Oddly, two of the other movies prior to this one were having the
same issues and they automatically cleared up after a few days off and on my
computer (weird).

I used the unedited version of the jinxed movie and just copied all other 5
movies easily onto DVD via My Sonic software.

There are no red x's on storyboard and your option sounds promising. I will
try. Thanks!

Threeballs,

Thanks, I easily (or rather the software) completed two DVD's. I really
like Sonic MY DVD. It is easy and has some cool features.

Thanks from,
