Original SideWinder and Windows XP

Chester

I use my MS SideWinder Force Feedback Pro for gaming and
upgraded to Windows XP Home Version. Has anyone else been
able to get this to work? (I have the original sidewinder
for windows 95).

Thanks!!

Hi Chester,

Here's the instructions for both the Sidewinder Gameport models:

The version 3 software, isn't compatible. It uses XP's drivers instead.

To install a GamePort controller, Plug it in, click Start / Control Panel /
Switch to Classic view if you haven't already / click Game Controllers
Click Add... / Select Microsoft Sidewinder Auto Detect / OK / OK.

Hello Chester. have been asking same for months w/ no
reply. Wonder if MS really sees this. You would think they
would at least reply "Working on it"!

The solution has been posted here many times. Plug the controller in, go
into Control Panel/Game Controllers/Add and then select Microsoft SideWinder
(Auto Detect) from the menu. The Windows XP system will install basic
drivers for even the old game port devices, and get it running for you.
What is lost is the ability to program buttons (the old profiles), but that
can be done in game Options, if the game supports it.
