Organising the desktop appearance

In Win95/98, you can position shortcuts anywhere on the desktop, but
under Win200, all the icons get pushed into a top-bottom, left-right
setup; I can move them around within this organisation, but I want to
group them on my desktop. Any ideas ?

Right click on a blank portion of the desktop, choose
arrange icons and then left click on auto arrange to
deselect the option. Put your icons wherever you wish.
