Options feature not turned on

I have added both a path to a folder, and a paths to specific executable
files in the "Tools\Options\Advanced Options\Do not scan these files or
locations" textBox, but adding these entries using Norton Antivirus, has no
effect.

The NAV log file still shows Windows Defender repeatedly attempting to scan
these folders or files, and being blocked by the NAV tamper proof feature. So
this feature must not be activated at this point in the WD development cycle.

When this feature is active, it will prevent WD from repeatedly scanning
files and folders that block its access.

This is a much better approach than for example turning off the tamper proff
protection built into Symantec AV that some folks are doing.

I have had the exact same experience. I have a feeling that Microsoft is
not very concerned about solving this problem.

Hmm - I think this feature should be working--others have had success with
specific executables, but not with paths. I'm not sure anyone's tried it
for what you are attempting to manage.

Is there any visible sign of what is happening other than the log entries?
I'd certainly advise leaving the tamper-proof mechanism on, and just
ignoring the log entries, if that's all that is involved.

I can tell you that Microsoft has looked into this issue, but I don't know
what the result of that was, or whether there's any resolution on the
horizon.

Bill,

There is no visible sign other than the log entries. As you suggested, I
just ignore them and/or delete them. By the way, the same problem occurs
after running Ewido and Lavasoft.

Thanks. I know Microsoft is looking into this, but I wouldn't be surprised
if it took a good while to resolve.
