option to show declined meetings in calendar

I get lots of meeting requests. If I have a conflict, I let the organizer
know by declining the meeting. However, if the other meeting is cancelled
and my time becomes free to attend the meeting I declined, but it is no
longer on my calendar, so I have to poll the organizer to get meeting details
again.

I would like to see the option to leave declined meetings on my calendar so
that I can later change my attendance selection from "declined" to "accepted"
if that time slot is freed up. I've heard this same comment from many others
in my organization.

Then leave it on your calendar as "tentative".

Tentative status leads to the organizer having to contact you and ask if you
know already whether you'll be able to tend..

...so I agree that it would be nice to be able to leave meetings you have
declined to the calendar for further re-decisioning

"Decline" means you won't be coming, period. Why would you want an event on
the calendar if you know for a fact that you won't be there? If you must
"redecision", then that's the very definition of "tentative", as far as I
can tell.
