Option to put brackets around negative numbers not available in 20

Although I have set up the defauilt in the Control Panel to make negative
numbers use brackets rather than the minus sign, in Excel 2003 under 'Format>
Cells> Number, there is no option for brackets at all. It used to work before
we had the software re-installed on new servers. Where might this setting be?

Hi,

1) In format, instead of number, select custom & paste the line below.

#,##0;[Red](#,##0)

All negative numbers will be displayed in red & will have bracket around them

Hi

Thanks for your answer, but I'm trying to find out why the option has
disappeared in the first place - and where the setting to change it back
might be, if anyone has any ideas?
Thanks

The setting is under "Currency" in Control Panel> Regional and Language
Options>Customize

I know logically it should be under Numbers but is not.
