Option to create Broadband connection greyed out

Windows XP, Network Connections - I want to create a broadband
connection. I choose connection to Internet > configure manually > But
then the option for Broadband connection is greyed out. I know that it
once was possible. How to reactivate?

Does your computer have a built-in Network (Ethernet) card.

And do you have a broadband modem (or router). If so, what make
and model? Does the modem use an Ethernet or a USB connection to
your computer?
