Optimal TCP/IP Settings

Having read this http://rdweb.cns.vt.edu/public/notes/win2k-tcpip.htm
I'missing the real optimal settings for Windows 2000/XP, I'm confused.

I never found an article where it's explained what settings should you use
in a mixed environment.

In my case we have a LAN connected through a 100Mb/s Full Duplex Switch.
Worksations XP/2000 and server 2000 have a NIC set to 100Mb/s Full duplex.
The LAN is connected @100Mb/s to a W2K Workstation that acts as the
router/gateway for the LAN, having a secondary Ethernet NIC @10Mb/s plugged
to a fiber connection to the Internet;

What TCP (GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize etc) settings should we set in the
workstations/server/router-gateway???

Thanks

There isn't one best setting that will work in all cases. This is something that you will have to test for yourself. Usually it's safe to
assume a large window size for internal network where reliability is high. A lower setting may give better throughput on a WAN
link or the Internet. The defaults usually error on the safe side. A lot of people will set it to 65k and see a performance increase
though again this may not be the optimal setting for you. Test, test, and retest if performance is critical. The real benefit may not
be noticable. It certainly won't turn a DSL connection into a T3.

Thank you,
