I hope some Microsoft employees read messages in this forum.

I found that the reading/writing functionality from/to optical drives in
Windows XP Professional is broken.
The bugs must be burried deep in windows XP, because the same errors show
in different applications being parts of Windows XP Professional (english
OEM).

I have 2 optical drives in my system. One Plextor SCSI CD drive, an one
Plextor Serial ATA DVD writer connected to STlabs SATA controller.

The problem is that BOTH the "sfc" utility and Windows XP native writing to
CD / DVD work only on the FIRST drive (having lower letter).

If I disable my CD reader, everything work fine with my DVD writer.

Well, they don't.
I have two DVD writers, and I have no trouble reading or writing to the one
I choose.
