optical drive disappeared from windows

the problem is the cd/dvd drive functioned properly before
i put in a dvd and then the system no longer sees the
drive at all. i tried different cds and dvds and i tried
to reinstall the drive. nothing bios sees the deive but
windows doesnt se it. coulde you please help! Device
Manager doesnt see them. its really a pain. Im stumped. i
tried to rinstall the drivers nothing.
