Opinions on PC PitStop (O/T)

I have a friend who swears by PC Pitstop. He says Leo LaPorte gave it a good
review, so it must be good, right? :)

The PCPitstop site does an on-line analysis, and finds real or imagined
warnings and errors that my friend believes are grave dangers.

He regularly goes on this site, runs the analysis, and gets "Yellow Flagged"
or "Red Flagged". He then freaks out and calls me for marathon phone
sessions to help him track down the demons.

Has anyone tried this site? Is it legitimate, useful, and innocuous, or is
it just another Spyware trap?

I've used it a few times and have found it useful for information. It's
not Spyware according to all my sources and has never showed up on
Spybot or Ad aware.Never showed up in any other programs I use for
pest, virues, etc.I'm not a geek (although I think I'm getting there)
but my understanding of computers has been made more knowledgable
using this every once in a while when I feel "threatened."
Don't think it will "harm" your computer.

This is a great site! I suppose you can use programs like Spybot (installed
ActiveX) and FileMap by BB to examine what's installed more closely, but
there's no need IMO. Pcpitstop has been around for awhile.

Its a good site and ive used it the past.It does download certain files to run and perform tests on your pc ,but they are listed and you can delete them if you wish.Nothing to do with the site but in hind sight i found that i was striving to reach certain results (that supposedly ,my spec pc should attain but
didnt),i.e cached and uncached speed. In the end after numerous fruitless tweaking ,i thought bugger it and havent been there since :)

I've used it from time to time, usually when someone's said "xxxx misses
this or that threat.

Never had a problem with it, and it's never found a problem on my box.

Good old AVG, ZA, Spybot
