I have recently installed Office Basic 2003 and cannot get past the error
message posted. I have followed the instructions:To resolve this behavior,
create a new profile. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Mail icon.
3. In the Mail Setup dialog box, click Show Profiles.

If you want to be able to select a specific profile each time you
start Outlook, click the General tab, click Prompt for a profile to be used,
and then click Add.
4. In the New Profile dialog box, under Profile Name, type a descriptive
name for the new profile, and then click OK.
5. In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, select Add a new e-mail account in
the e-mail options, and then click Next.
6. Click the type of server that your e-mail account works with, and then
click Next.
7. Complete all of the required fields, including those that are on the
tabs that appear after you click More Settings.
8. When you finish providing the required information, click Finish.
With no change - I am running Vista Home Premium and use the Windows Mail
without error. Any further suggestions would be helpful.

Rob,
I get the message as soon as I hit Send/Receive - I did go through the
process of uninstalling and removing the registry files for a clean install.
I set up the account through the process shown in my original post - the mail
icon is shown through additional options. It seems to have worked. I do not
know if there was a conflict from my prior setting up the account through
outlook and not through the Mail icon in the control panel.
Thanks for taking the time to assist.

Locate the srs-file for your mail profile and rename it to .old. It's
usually located in;
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook

Also, do you have a virus scanner installed which integrates itself with
Outlook? Uninstall this integration part of your virus scanner and try
again; you'd still be sufficiently protected by your on-access scanner part
of the virus scanner. For more details see;
