Opera not quite there yet

I installed Opera during the recent anniversary fest. While it is ok,
it lacks some features which would make it more desirable, IMO:

1. It can not save .mht files (web pages in a single file)
2. Links on the bar can not have customized icons.
3. The "wand" is very limited in what boxes it can fill. RoboForm is
far superior, but it's not available for Opera.

#3 is the show stopper for me. #1 and 2 are annoyances which could be
fixed, but for now I'm going back to Maxthon. If Opera ever gets a
"wand" capability comparable to RoboForm, I'll give it another shot.
But only if it's free...

Nice try, guys.

1. It can not save .mht files (web pages in a single file)

There are a lot of ways to achieve that. See for example this url:
http://my.opera.com/forums/showthre...cbceb48066c2d6b2&threadid=97209&highlight=mht
2. Links on the bar can not have customized icons.

They can. Just edit the image entry for the bookmark on your
bookmarks file (which normally is opera6.adr and is placed in your
profile folder) and point it to the icon you like (which you should
place in your profile images folder). For example, you have this
entry:

#URL
ID=1450
NAME=Pricelessware the best in Windows © Freeware
URL=http://home.att.net/~willowbrookemill/pricelessware.html
CREATED=1020084553
ICONFILE=home.att.net.ico
ORDER=643

And want x.ico to show at Opera for this bookmark. You should
replace home.att.net.ico for x.ico and place x.ico in your profile's
image folder. Then delete the backup that Opera does automatically for
your bookmarks file and restart Opera. If there is no ICONFILE= field
in your bookmark, you can add one.
3. The "wand" is very limited in what boxes it can fill. RoboForm is
far superior, but it's not available for Opera.
If Opera ever gets a
"wand" capability comparable to RoboForm, I'll give it another shot.

can you do the little translation trick thingo in Firefox? You know, the
one where you drag your cursor over text on any web page and right click to
translate from japanese to english, from english to portuguese, from..? to
...?

kinda find that a handy little two click option

That does seem to be a modest improvement, but RoboForm is still much
more capable. RoboForm has the ability to 'learn' new forms, not just
fill boxes it already recognizes.

I never used RoboForm, so I don't know exactly what you are looking
for. Anyway, that script is surely a modest improvement, but I don't
know of anything better. If it helps, you can also drag notes to forms
and they will be filled with the content of the notes. The info on
Preferences > Wand dialog can also be used to fill forms.

Hope that helps

Available in FireFox also, highlighted section or the whole page.

Opera was not bad but various fonts were blurry. Common sites such as CNN
.... fonts contained in gif files on the page were all slightly blurry (as
compared to the same page in FF or even IE). Tried all Opera options I
could find but no difference. Any one else notice this?
