Can anyone tell me what this message means: opensite
runtime error 62: input past end of file. The message
shows up everytime I start my computer. I'm running 2000
pro with all updates. I don't notice anything drastic
happening with my computer but I am mildly concerned about
a message which obviously is trying to let me know
something is wrong.

Perhaps a VB4.0 application is starting up.

if it shows up at startup you can probably find it using msconfig, if you
get msconfig for win2k. (i have heard you can use the winxp version of it,
but never tried myself). in googling (is that how you spell the past verb
form of google?) for opensite errors i see references to auction sites, web
host counters, some other commerce web sites, and a bunch of misc stuff. i
would also worry that this is adware or spyware of some kind, so you might
want to scan with adaware, spybot s&d, and hijaakthis to be sure.

Opensite is a spyware program. It highjacks some browser searches and
displays results as popunders, even in a search engine from a webpage.
I use spybot and it did not find it. It should be on your c drive
under c:\program files\opensite. There is an uninstall icon that
should remove it. You can double check to see if it really removed by
doing this:

Manual removal
Please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove
OpenSite manually.
Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run.
(The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry
editor will open.)
Browse to the key:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion
\ Run'
In the right pane, delete the value called 'Open Site', if it exists.
Exit the registry editor.
Restart your computer.
Delete the following directory and its content:
C:\Program Files\Open Site\
Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
In Internet Explorer, click Tools -> Internet Options.
Click the Programs tab -> Reset Web Settings.

Found this on some webpage.. oh dont forget to end the service opnste.
Hope this helps. It was driving me crazy....
