I have seen recent discussion concerning screen readers and OpenOffice 2.0,
but can't remember what exactly was decided or what came of it; I know that
the developers are definitely keen to support these important tools but
remember talk of having problems with some voice recognition vendors being
unhelpful, and didn't have the resources (Manpower, software) to completely
overcome the problem.
The Quality Assurance project site is being a pain at the moment, but you
could try searching
http://qa.openoffice.org/ for "Accessibility" or "voice
recognition" etc., and see what results you get in the mailing lists section.
You could also join the mailing list and ask the question directly
