I had to make a windows recovery in my notebook (win xp sp3) because of a
problem
After the system recovery a new account folder has been created and it is
impossible to get in my previous account folder(before system recovery) where
i have too many personal files
The message says '' access denied'' Can anyone tell me how i can gain access
to the old account folder?
Thanks in advance

You need to seize ownership of these folders. Click Start / Help and look
for help on "ownership" if unsure how to do this.

WHEN I PRESS PROPERTIES BUTTON AND LATER ADVANCED BUTTON (IN THE NON
ACCESSIBLE FOLDER), I CANNOT SEE ANY OWNER OR NAME BUTTON, SO I CANNOT GO
FURTHER TO GET THE OWNERSHIP OF THE FOLDER
ANY HELP?

In folder Properties\Security\.. do you see any user or the administrators
group there?, if nothing, click on Add\Avanced\Search now\select
"Administrators"\click OK on every box and Apply button on the last box if
letters are higlighted. Next go back and check if the administrators group
is now there.

You can also apply the default security permissions by checking both boxes
in the Permissions tab, Apply and OK.

If you still haven't succeeded scan the computer for possible infection...
use your antivirus and antimalware applications... Malwarebytres
Anti-Malware and A Squared Free are excellent for detecting all kinds of
malware including trojans and viruses.

OK, on Home Edition you need to logon in "Safe Mode". Restart the computer
and as the restart begins, start taping F8 (+/- 1 tap/second) untill the
start mode options list appears, and select Safe Mode. After logon go
directly to folder Properties\Security. This difference between XP Pro and
Home is detailed in the KB article (that's why I didn't mention it).

If you had only asked for more help I would have told you that there was an
easyer way to delete every folder with a single action, but I assumed you
just wanted to regain access to the old profile folder and you had no need
to delete it. I also thought you'd go through every line of the KB article
which includes in paragraph 4 the instructions on how to apply the
permissions settings from the main folder to all the contained folders.
This small detail would have saved you a lot of work and time.

All you had to do was from the main folder properties; check the box in
Ownership to inherit ownership to all the folders contained within the main
folder. Another option was; main folder\Properties\Security\Advanced
Options\Permissions\check the boxes there; the first checkbox to inherit the
default permissions from your new system and the second box to inherit the
said permissions to the thousands of folders within the main folder. Once
you have access to all the folders within a previously unaccessible folder,
you can move files out and delete all files and folders you don't need
anymore with a single action.

Sorry I didn't mention this part in the second response but I frankly forgot
to. Anyway, I guess that after so much repetition you probably have that
part of the Security all worked out by now.

Thanks for wishing to return the favor, but you know what they say... "It's
the thought that counts".

The name "Ronaldo" as far as I know, is used in Spanish and Portuguese
speaking countries.. but it's origin is Germanic. I am from México, (or
Méjico)
