opening spreadsheets

I used to be able to double-click excel worksheet icons to ope
them...now I have to go to the "open" menu and click there....what's u
with that

Sometimes one of these works:

Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.

An alternative might be to do:
Try Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)
