opening pst file

I had to reinstall Vista on my computer. Previously I used Outlook. I can't
find the activation code so I want to try Windows Mail. I saved my Outlook
email pst file. Is there a way to get Windows Mail to open that file.

Windows Mail cannot import a .pst file unless Outlook is installed on the
Vista computer.

You can install Outlook, copy the .pst to the Vista computer, open the .pst
with Outlook, then you can import into Windows Mail.

Or,
If you have Outlook installed on an XP computer, import the .pst data into
Outlook Express, copy the .dbx files and .wab file to the Vista computer,
and import into Windows Mail.

Yes, there is. You have to install Outlook, even just for a few minutes, to
import it. It won't work otherwise.

You don't have to ever actually *run* outlook, or activate it. Run the
install, even a trial version, run the import, then uninstall Outook.

Yes: Install Outlook, import the PST file, then import the Outlook data into
Windows Mail.
