Opening programs and Windows Explorer maximized

Hi all...
I find on some computers I use that opening a program or a directory
stucture in Windows Explorer the window is not opened maximized, and I always
have to maximize it manually.
Is there a way to reset a setting so everything is launched maximized?

while the window is open drag the 4 edges to the position you want, then
using the caption button in the upper right ( X) close the window. It will,
from that point on, remain that size.

Thank you! I was almost right. I was using the maximise button, then closing.
I will try dragging the corners.
