opening pics, word etc via the net!!!

Every time I try to open word, nortons or basically most
things my pc tries to open it up via the net, which takes
up my time! If I am offline then there is no problem,
but as soon as I am online it opens everything by
searching the net first???? Can somebody please help me??
This is driving me crazy
