opening pdf - cannot

[trouble opening pdf]

i cannot open any web link to pdf files via internet
explorer 6. what happens is that a new window opens, but
it's blanket except with a little "X" on the top left
corner. i have adobe acrobat professional intalled with
creative suite premium. i do not have acrobat reader.
please help.
