opening pages in the same window

how can i set IE so it opens images in the same window,
instead of multiple ones?

Tools/Internet Options/Advanced Tab.
Uncheck the Reuse windows for starting shortcuts.

I was unable to change the DDE and other setting for GIF
and JPG files as specified on that page.
