Opening Outlook Calendar .ics files

I currently work on an IBM w/Outlook 2000 which saves our
files as .vcs and receive appointments via email with the
extension of .ics. I cannot open the documents nor can I
download the appointment into Outlook. Could you please
let me know how I can open the file? Thank you.

Ask the sender not to include a reminder or save and edit the file yourself
to remove the VALARM element.
