How can I get the "Details" view to ALWAYS be displayed when I do
FILE/OPEN? (I'm tired of switching from "List" to "Details").

Also, in the "Details" view, how can I get the same columns and
column-widths to be displayed, regardless of the application I'm
using? (I'm tired of using the cursor bar to move left or right to
get the info I need).

AFAIK it's up to the application as to how it calls the "File Open Dialog"
box. Some applications may store this info within the user profile.
