Don't even try to open a Word document directly from a CD -- Word needs to
write temporary files in the same folder as the original document, and it
can't do that on a CD. Instead, copy the file to the hard drive first. Also
right-click the copy on the hard drive, select Properties, and make sure it
isn't marked Read-only. Edit the file there. (If the copy on the hard drive
is corrupted, there was something wrong with the way the file was originally
written to the CD, and it's too late to do anything about that.)
After you've closed the edited document, use your CD-burner software to
write it back to the CD. Again, don't try to save from Word directly to the
CD.
