Opening file dialogbox error

When I try to open a file dialogbox, the system hangs and I have to
terminate (ctrl-alt-del)
This occurs when I open a network (mapped drive), not when opening i.e. my
documents.
I do have access to the network and can open the folders I want from the
explorer or my computer.

How are you trying to open the dialog box?

It could be when I try to get an image from a network-drive.

I meant are you using the CommonDialog control or the GetOpenFilename API.

The API approach is the recommended route to take. See
