opening excel spreadsheets via email

How do I open or convert files so I can download them
when they are in excel format? My windows xp will not
let me find them or open them.

Either purchase Microsoft Excel or if you only want to view them then
download the viewer from

If you just want to view it use the Excel Viewer

If you are using Outlook Express, Tools, Options, Security tab, uncheck "Do
not allow attachments........"
After you download them, you will need Excel or the Excel viewer.
